When creating a new terminal window (or tab), they are always created
with a black background; then the color settings are applied.
If you are using a white background terminal (which is easier to read in
sunshine environments on my laptop) this will be a visible "flash" of a
few msecs (if you have a faster machine than I you maybe don't notice
it).
It would be nice if gnome-terminal would create the windows with the
correct background color right from the beginning.
This might be a VTE bug, I don't really know. Please reassign if
appropriate.
