Package: samba
Version: 3.0.2a-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

ever since I upgraded from Samba 2 to Samba 3 my passwords for my users keep
expiring on my file and print server. It is always really annoying to tell
the users to renew their passwords. And also annoying for the users to have
their system suddenly stop working for no apparent reason.

Please, please just set the default expire time for tdbsam to never ever!

Anyone who is more into security can then change that value, but I don't
even know where the hell that tweak would be, since Samba 3 documentation is
still a little ... *cough* *cough* flaky, to say the least.

Thx,

Malte Schmidt-Tychsen

This bug requesting that tdbsam stops setting the default expire time
when upgrading from Samba 2 to Samba 3 is just anything but so old
that noone certainly cares about it. Upgrading from Samba 2 is now
completed for a while in Debian since this happen during the
woody->sarge release cycle

I hereby close it. Please reopen it if you still experience a similar
issue, *with a recent version of samba*.
