Package: lpr
Version: 2006.11.04

uname -a: Linux mybox 2.6.18-4-686 #1 SMP Mon Mar 26 17:17:36 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

After upgrading to Etch, printing (DeskJet 840C) is gone.
Reason:
% ls -l /dev/lp*
ls: /dev/lp*: No such file or directory
There is no more device created by udev. I have turned off and on, but to no avail.
The printer is found (dmesg):
parport: PnPBIOS parport detected.
parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778), irq 7, dma 3 [PCSPP,TRISTATE,COMPAT,ECP,DMA]
parport0: Printer, HEWLETT-PACKARD DESKJET 840C

But there is nothing to send the data to.
lpr seems to work okay, I can see the status, and all documents tagged
lpc> status
lp:
        queuing is enabled
        printing is enabled
        3 entries in spool area
        printer idle

Uwe
