The particular example is http://ar.linux.it/software/barcode/barcode.pdf xpdf, gv, gnome-gv and kghostview all show it correctly. I note that gpdf is based on xpdf. The version of xpdf I have is 3.00. gpdf is based on xpdf version 2.02 (according to the README.gz). So it's not surprising that a newer xpdf can view something that the older gpdf fails on. Of the viewers that I listed above, all have a priority of 5 (the default) in /usr/lib/mime/packages, except xpdf which is at level 6 and gpdf which is at level 7. I suggest that gpdf should have a lower priority than xpdf, so that the newer application, which is more likely to do a good job of viewing files, is used by default. (gpdf may look prettier, but functionality is more important.)
