Hello!
One of the projects that have been sponsered during the "Women's Summer
Outreach Program 2006" [1] was the development of a browser plugin for
evince. A girl named Umran Kamar did the job.
A few weeks later, a first screenshot [2] has been released showing the
plugin working. The operating system was Ubuntu 6.06 and the version of
evince was 0.5.3.
By now evince 0.6.1 is in experimental and still no mozilla plugin in
sight. What has become of this project? With an evince plugin which is
able to show embedded PDFs in a webpage (it's a plague) I could be able
to ban the very last piece of proprietary software (i.e. Adobe Reader)
off my computer.
Maybe someone should investigate behind this patch and apply it at least
for testing purposes in the evince version in experimental?
Thank you!
Cheers,
Fabian
