mod_dav sets 0660 permissions on files and 0770 on directories. This
would be satisfactory where using DAV for user files, but not always for
web hosting, particularly where complex permissions are required. I have
found it necessary to modify and recompile mod_dav to change the
permissions, where I would have preferred to have been able to do it via
a configuration directive or umask. That is, say a DavUmask directive
which would result in file operations being wrapped with appropriate
umask() calls, or a single, global call to umask(), probably by calling
it from apachectl as suggested in a post to dav-dev. These are problems
for upstream to deal with but perhaps a compromise for Debian would be
to open up the permissions and let administrators choose their
permissions using umask?

This package has been removed from Debian unstable. I'm therefore
closing this bug report. The package has been removed because it
depends on depracated apache1.
