Package: modutils
Version: 2.4.10-3
Severity: wishlist

Now that modules.conf can "include" other files, would it
not be elegant to "include" the various files in /etc/modutils
instead of copying their contents?

Eventually, it would be useful if the programs using /etc/modules.conf
were modified so that the latter could simply "include" a directory
(as in "include /etc/modutils") and thereby include all of the files
in the directory and its subdirectories. Then it would not be necessary
to have an update-modules at all.

devfsd now works in this way. /dev/devfs/devfsd.conf INCLUDEs the
directory /etc/devfs/conf.d which actually includes all of the files
in that directory.

This package has been removed from Debian unstable. I'm therefore
closing this bug report. The package has been removed because it
has been replaced by module-init-tools. modutils was for 2.4 kernels
only. It's quite unlikely that your bug still exists in
module-init-tools, but please let me know if it does.
