the xdvi program has its 'X' mode, which removes all the buttons and
controls from the screen, leaving only the displayed file. This makes
it useful for presentation, eg with a laptop and a projector.
if gv had a similar function, i'm sure it would be used frequently.
what i'm talking about is a mode in which all the widgets and crap go
away, so that functionality is accessible either only through
keystrokes, or perhaps also through some kind of popup menu.
