Subject: openafs-fileserver: need to document /etc/hosts addition
X-Mailer: reportbug 1.50
Date: Mon, 07 Oct 2002 20:23:07 -0500
Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Package: openafs-fileserver
Version: N/A; reported 2002-10-07
Severity: normal
Without a line in /etc/hosts that explicitly enumerates the system's
NIC IP address and the hostname, the installation script places
127.0.0.1 in /etc/openafs/server/CellSrvDB as the IP address of the
cell, which causes afs-newcell script to fail with connection timeouts.
(fileserver refuses to start on 127.0.0.1 interface)
I had to make my /etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost
212.232.24.9 afsserver afsserver.mydomain.com
without the second line, afs-newcell fails.
This is not a problem on a normal system with statically configured IP
address probably, but our systems are configured for DHCP and DDNS.

.
* make-kpkg doesn't run fakeroot for us but instead expects the module
rules file to use $(ROOT_CMD) appropriately. (Closes: #237861)
* Put the compiled modules into KPKG_DEST_DIR if set. This appears to
be preferred over DEB_DEST by the make-kpkg documentation. Thanks,
Jonas Smedegaard. (Closes: #206403)
* Add a check to afs-newcell to ensure the local hostname doesn't
resolve to 127.0.0.1. (Closes: #163751)
* Exclude .svn directories from the modules source tarball.
* Fix genchanges for module builds to not fail when trying to remove a
nonexistent file.
* New French translations from Christian Perrier, Closes: #305780
