Package: libxine0
Version: 0.9.8-2
Severity: minor

I found some annoyances in the documentation:

First, there's no useable documentation that comes with the libxine0
package, especially there's no description for the config file entries.

xine-ui FAQ mentions a file called xine-ui/doc/README.config_en, but
this is not available. Hm, should I file this against xine-ui? But as
there are other xine frontends using the same config file (I prefer
sinek), this documentation should be in the libxine package, I think.

Especially, I didn't find any information about how to use windows dlls
(even the original upstream documentation on the website is sparse.)
Maybe a small howto (where to locate dlls in a windows system, which
dlls to copy, where to copy them) could be helpful.

Thanks,
Markus

Nowadays, there is a binary package called 'libxine1-docs', which
includes various READMEs and a manpage for the xine. I therefore thing
the situation has vastly improved since 2002. The config file nowadays
comes even with translated (!) comments.

As for the windows DLLs, since we don't ship them, I'm not that
interested in supporting the use. However, if I was sent some additional
information how to use them, I'd happily add that piece of information
to an existing README. So patches are welcome.

I'm therefore closing this bug for now. Feel free to send in further
suggestions how to improve the xine package.
