Package: mozilla-firefox
Version: 1.0+dfsg.1-2
Severity: minor

I'm not really sure which package to blame for this bug, Firefox or
the window manager.

Sometimes Firefox's type-ahead-find starts overacting. When I try to
input text to a text box, it starts finding the text, taking focus
away from the input box. I practically have to type one letter at a
time, always mouse-clicking the text box again after that. This is
especially annoying when entering passwords, since the inputted
letters are visible in the find box.

When this happens, it stays that way for that tab, even if you browse
to other sites. Other tabs keep working normally. You can open a new
tab, copy&paste the address there from the buggy tab and hope the site
doesn't rely on referer information to show the same page.

I haven't yet hunted down the exact way to reproduce this. I suspect
it happens when there's already text in a text box and I double click
on it to select all.

It might also be related to window manager focus. I'm using Gnome with
Sawfish as the wm, with focus settings as sloppy-follows-mouse
(entering window gives focus, exiting doesn't take it away). I have
one Firefox window fullscreened, with two Gnome panels.

I'll keep trying to find how to reproduce this. If someone has any
hints on where to look, I would be glad.

This bug was always hard to reproduce, and I haven't seen it
lately. It is either fixed or just not raising its ugly head. Closing
this report for the etch version.
