Package: gnome-pilot
Version: 2.0.9-2
Severity: important
Gnome pilot's configuration druid is almost completely broken with USB
devices.
My Clie uses /dev/ttyUSB1 to communicate. I told gnome-pilot about that and
that it was a USB. I got to the point where it asked me to press hotsync,
and nothing happened.
On a hunch, I canceled the druid (and had to kill gpilotd that it leaves
running) and restarted. This time, I pressed hotsync BEFORE I got to that
screen, and then it communicated OK.
The problem is likely this: the semantics of accessing the port prior to
hotsync being pressed differ between serial and USB devices.
For USB devices, the operating system returns a "No such device" if you try
to access it prior to pressing hotsync. For serial devices, it just blocks
until HotSync is pressed.

Hi John,
You filed a bug report about gnome-pilot's configuration druid which did
not take into account the semantics of accessing an USB devices.
If have tested this with gnome-pilot 2.0.15 and it seems te behave
properly when I try to configure my USB Palm Pilot.
So I am closing this bug report but if this still is not working for you
please reopen the bug report.
Greetings Arjan
