man gpsfake makes it look like logfile is optional.
... [logfile]
gpsfake -h shows however that it is required.
... logfile
Hmmm, let's say one doesn't have a gps by one's side at the moment,
nor does one have a logfile. Well, how about adding an option for
gpsfake to create its own simulated path, e.g., a loop around the
hills of Brunei or lost in a Taiwan parking lot, etc.
P.S.
$ gpsfake /dev/null
gsfake: no such file as /dev/null or file unreadable
Perhaps mention empty too.
P.S., the gpsd man page perhaps could say what protocols are prefered.

The reported error in the manpage was fixed in 2.33-4 (or
before, didn't investigate in that).
I've cloned the bug and forwarded the wish for a simulation
mode to upstream, see #447185.
Thanks for the report,
Bernd
