Package: alsa-base
Version: 1.0.15-1
Severity: important

Hello,

with today's dist-upgrade I noticed that it removed "alsa-utils". I found
this odd so I decided to investigate why it got removed. It turns out that
aptitude removed it because "it was no more needed".

In effect, right now alsa-utils is available at version 1.0.14-2 and alsa-base
got just upgraded to 1.0.15-1. But alsa-base has this Recommends field:
Recommends: alsa-utils (>= 1.0.15-1)

So the recommends doesn't apply to the package currently installed and
aptitude thinks nobody needs the current alsa-utils so it gets removed.

Please replace that versioned Recommends with a non-versioned one. The
version doesn't enforce anything as Recommends is an optional dependency
and just creates problems like this one.

So to sum up, I suggest to use:
Recommends: alsa-utils

Submitting as important since this lead to the loss of the startup
configuration...
