Package: mozilla-firefox
Version: 0.99+1.0RC1-4
Severity: normal
The latest DWN pointed to
http://news.zdnet.co.uk/software/linuxunix/0,39020390,39173518,00.htm.
Every time I open it the browser consumes all the CPU and eventually
crashes. Nothing appears in .xsession-errors, or on the terminal when
I launch from there.
Exact sequence:
launch firefox
enter http://www.debian.org/News/weekly/ as URL
Click on 16 Nov link.
On that page, at "Digging into the Installer. Ingrid Marson
interviewed" middle mouse click on the link (I have middle mouse set
to open a new tab). That gives the link mentioned up top.
Crash.
It's repeatable.
I have also installed
mozilla-firefox-gnome-support
at the same version. (Sorry, I haven't had a chance to notice if the
session management is working. In general, the browser seems less
stable.)
Mine is a mostly testing system; perhaps there's some subtle problem
with the package pulled from unstable?
Running under KDE.
I see there is a newer version available; I'll try that and report if
it fixes the problem.
I also have various plugins, and perhaps one of them is misbehaving:
shockwave
blackdown java
realplayer
mplayer
squeak (not likely relevant to that page)
A quick scan (i.e., I might have missed something) of the page source
shows only javascript in use.
The page shows without incident using Konqueror.
