Package: nfs-common
Version: 1:1.1.1-9
Severity: normal

Hello,

I am using NFS sporadically, depending on which network I happen to be in --
therefore, I do not want it to start automatically and I am capable of starting
it manually via the /etc/init.d/ scripts whenever I need to.
However, when upgrading the package it always recreates the
/etc/rc*.d/S..nfs-common links that I have removed via update-rc.d and it
insists to start the server even if it is stopped.
The same problem applies to nfs-kernel-server (should I file a different bug
report?)

I believe the fix would be to check if the package is being first-installed or
upgraded, and refrain from making any changes to runlevels or running daemons
in the latter case.

Thanks and best regards,
Mihnea

This is standard behavior of update-rc.d. If you do not wish them to be put
back in place, just let one of the links be.
