Severity: normal

The game "Circles in a rectangle" asks the following question:
"What is the maximum number of circles that can be fit in the square below?"

The circles in question have a diameter of 1 unit and the box is a square of
5 units. The answer that gbrainy reports is 27. However, the circles may
not be fitted in the square as suggested by the picture shown by gbrainy.
The picture shows a row of 5 circles, on top of that a row of 4 circles,
and so on, fitting a total of 6 rows of alternating 5 and 4 circles into
the square. This way, the top row, however, will stick out of the box by
0.330 units.
The total height may be calculated as follows:
h = 1 + 5 * cos 30° = 5.330 > 5

The correct answer for a box of 5x5 units is still 5^2, or 25.

The smallest square box to hold more than x^2 circles is 8x8, it holds
5 x 8 + 4 * 7 = 68 circles:
h = 1 + 8 * cos 30° = 7.928 < 8
