Package: gnopernicus
Version: 1.0.5-1.1
Severity: normal
The keypad does not function to issue commands to gnopernicus. Instead
it issues digits manually. For example, if I enter the command to
repeat the last utterance here: 005 those digits were typed on the numeric
pad with gnopernicus running, speach turned on. these three digits are
being typed at a one second interval: 005. Numlock is obviously pressed.
Keyboard is a logitech access keyboard. It looks like you are not
intercepting the keystrokes successfully. It doesn't even work when
the keyboard focus is on the gnopernicus window.
kernel 2.6.16-1-686
As a result, I can't get it to read the contents of the main frame of firefox,
for example, but I can read the menu bar.

Other bugs:
- Gnopernicus launches its "preferences" submenu and not only doesn't land
close to the main window, it doesn't even land on the same screen.
(dual monitors sharing same framebuffer, nvidia twinview)
Multiple monitors is a very likely setup for someone who needs to
use the magnifier.
- When the preferences menu is displayed, the main menu is inoperable.
likewise for the dialogs. This seems like a really bad idea in
accessibility software.
- An alternative menu for people who aren't blind to use instead of
the keypad.
- You should implement a "?" help function in the process of entering
keypad commands:
<0><?>
press 0 for navigation controls
press 1 for caret functions
press 3 for ...
press 5 for mouse controls <5><?>
press 1 for left mouse button press<1>
- pauses tend to occur in the wrong places.
consider the output of "apt-get install gnopernicus" in a terminal:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
gnopernicus is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 459 not upgraded.
Sometimes the first two lines are just read as "terminal enter".
Sometimes they are read as:
Reading package lists...
Done building dependency tree...
Done gnopernicus is already the newest version
With no indication of a new line.

Hi.
As you might already know, gnopernicus is no longer being developed,
its successor is the gnome-orca package which works very nicely these days.
I am therefore closing this bug.
