Get the following unrecoverable error using
synaptic's update & apply:
E: /var/cache/apt/archives/libmpich1.0ldbl_1.2.7-3.1_i386.deb: trying to
overwrite `/usr/lib/mpich/lib/shared/libfmpich.so.1.0', which is also in
package libmpich1.0c2
edit->repair doesn't fix it, and I don't
know enough about debian dependencies.
