I did a regular upgrade of my laptop (running testing) today and insserv
caused the upgrade of cryptsetup to fail. Below the relevant bit of the log.

I have now disabled insserv and gone back to the old-style init scripts
(with some manual work involved) as the whole mechanism is proving a bit
too fragile for my taste. It left me with the unconfortable uncertainty
of not knowing whether I would have been able to reboot the system if my
root filesystem had been on an encrypted partition (I actually only
have /home encrypted on this laptop).

Even if the root cause is an error in the headers of one of the init
scripts, I really dislike the fact that insserv can leave my system in a
(for the user) unknown state.

Note that this was the first upgrade since the one that prompted me to
file #465587.
