Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the metakit package. The upstream maintainer
doesn't seem to have a clue about soname versioning, and me neither (and
I don't want to do one without upstream concensus). For I know next to
nothing about soname versioning (beside the things in the library
package howto and the libtool infopages, which didn't enlighten me in
that respect) I think someone more into libraries would be needed to
maintain this package like it deserves. Someone with python/tcl
knowledge would be a plus for there could be bindings compiled for
those, but I don't think that its a must for maintaining the package (I
don't know much about those languages neither).

The package description is:
MetaKit is an embeddable database library. It lets you build applications
which store their data efficiently, in a portable way, and which will not
need a runtime installation. In terms of the data model, MetaKit takes
the middle ground between RDBMS, OODBMS, and flat-file databases - yet it
is quite different from each of them.

 Thanks to everyone interested,
Alfie

We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

libmetakit-tcl | 2.4.9.3-6.2 | alpha, amd64, arm, armel, hppa, i386, ia64,
m68k, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc
libmetakit2.4.9.3 | 2.4.9.3-6.2 | source
libmetakit2.4.9.3-dev | 2.4.9.3-6.2 | alpha, amd64, arm, armel, hppa, i386,
ia64, m68k, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc
libmetakit2.4.9.3c2 | 2.4.9.3-6.2 | alpha, amd64, arm, armel, hppa, i386, ia64,

m68k, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.

Packages are never removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
