Package: mdadm

I found that arrays made with non partitionned disks ( like /dev/hdb,
/dev/hdc) are not started during boot or with /etc/init.d/mdadm-raid start.
mdrun fails to start array with such components, so I try to use mdadm
-A -s, but it seems like the line
DEVICE /dev/hd*[0-9] /dev/sd*[0-9] in /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf
prevents the raid components to be detected.
As a quick workarond, i just change it to :
DEVICE /dev/hd* /dev/sd* in /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf,
Change AUTOSTART=false in /etc/mdadm/debian.conf and then everything
is ok !
I wonder why mdmadm uses hd*[0-9] instead of hd*, requiring that disks
are partitionned, as it is really unnecessary to partition raid disks !
Maybe I missed something ?
Denis.
