6667 [Connection timed out]
06:20 -!- Irssi: Removed reconnection to server chat.freenode.net port 6667

This pattern continues for several hours. Note that the IP address is
the same every time, even though:

  $ host chat.freenode.net
  chat.freenode.net has address 64.161.254.20
  chat.freenode.net has address 82.96.64.4
  chat.freenode.net has address 130.239.18.172
  chat.freenode.net has address 140.211.166.3
  chat.freenode.net has address 140.211.166.4
  chat.freenode.net has address 154.35.200.44
  chat.freenode.net has address 204.11.244.21
  chat.freenode.net has address 207.158.1.150
  chat.freenode.net has address 208.71.169.36
  chat.freenode.net has address 209.177.146.34
  chat.freenode.net has address 213.92.8.4
  chat.freenode.net has address 216.165.191.52

Please make irssi repeat the DNS lookup on reconnection, so that it
doesn't get stuck on a single broken server like this.

Thanks,

Please see <http://bugs.debian.org/374715> which was about this exact
problem, too. For your convenience there is newer irssi sitting in
<http://backports.org/> too so that etch users don't have to suffer from
it.

I though don't think that the stable release managers will allow an
update for the issue into stable. If you though think it would be
possible get it into a stable update give me a call, the other bugreport
contains the svn revision in which it was changed so extracting the fix
shouldn't be the problem.

It is done, though it happened too late for stable, I'm sorry. :/
