Package: djbdns
Version: 1:1.05-2
Severity: important

Hi!

Thx a lot for creating a binary package of djbdns for Debian.
I'm just wondering if you left out the creation of dns* users
intentionally? I know the old djbdns-installer created the
users... I don't know the Debian package policy by heart, but isn't
quite common to create users that is needed by the software?

Regards,
Hans Nordhaug

Hi Hans, if the djbdns package would enable one or more services
automatically, the users of course need to be created by the package.
Maybe I'll add something like this, e.g. a package dnscache-local-run
or so to provide a local dns cache, as outlined in
http://cr.yp.to/djbdns/run-cache.html.

As it is now, the djbdns package doesn't provide services, but the
programs plus documentation only. The documentation talks about
creating the users as one of the first steps when enabling a service.
So, no, I don't think the package should create the djbdns users in
advance.

Thanks, Gerrit.
