Subject: uim causing Firefox 3 to fail
Package: uim
Version: 1:1.4.1-6
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software
*** Please type your report below this line ***
Whenever i attempt to run Firefox 3 greater than Beta 3, it fails to run
with an error that looks like this:
"Error: in (function call): procedure or syntax required but got: Error:
fatal: looped fatal error"
I read around on the internet and found this forum topic on the Ubuntu
forums basically stating it was a uim bug:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4558682
I subsequently removed uim (as i don't need phonetic language support,
chinese input support, etc) and as soon as i
did, both Swiftweasel 3.0b4.5 and the Firefox 3 nightlies started just fine.

This is because of the bug in uim's sigschme when using with jemalloc[1].
This bug was already fixed in 1.4.2-1 in unstable.
