t-gnus is incompatible with bbdb. To see for yourself, install bbdb and
put this in .emacs:
(require 'bbdb)
(bbdb-initialize 'gnus 'message 'w3)
You'll note that wheneever you try to display a message, it says "message
unexists".
Also, when I try to go into some folders, I get:
Variable binding depth exceeds max-specpdl-size
Finally, when I delete messages (Expire) from IMAP, Gnus never actually
deletes them from the IMAP server. It says it is, but it doesn't.
(Even with B M-C-e).
The first two problems are unique to t-gnus. The last one occurs in gnus
as well.

The t-gnus package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.

this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.
