Version: N/A
Severity: normal

Hi!

Although the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard mandates applications must
survive deletion of the files in /var/cache, I've just received the
following mail from cron:

> /etc/cron.daily/cracklib:
> /var/cache/cracklib/cracklib_dict.pwd: No such file or directory
> /var/cache/cracklib/cracklib_dict: Invalid argument

I have deleted /var/cache/* recently.

cracklib should not suppose the files/directories in the /var/cache
hierarchy are present, and should recreate them if needed. See FHS,
section 5.2 for further discussion.

Cheers,
Jan.

Hi!

This bug only affects the Woody version of cracklib. Now Sarge is
released, thus it does not make sense any more to keep this bug open.

Thanks,

Martin
