Upgrading from 1.4.6dfsg1-3 to 1.4.6dfsg1-4 cause of the jhbuild that
configure the target build for GNOME 2.24 fail to update svn source.
When issue the command

$ jhbuild update

...
Checking out gnome-common *** [5/192]
svn update .
svn: Network socket initialization failed
...

Try to downgrade to 1.4.6dfsg1-3, the jhbuild work fine.

Best regards,
Neutron Soutmun

Yes, that would explain things. It is not surprising that an older
version of libgcrypt in LD_LIBRARY_PATH would cause svn to break. (And
since the older svn release doesn't use gnutls, it would not break.)

I'm closing this bug because I don't think it can reasonably be fixed,
unless perhaps jhbuild should be told not to build libraries whose
Debian versions are already present and newer.

Thanks,
