Subject: unnecessary test for writeable CD-R device
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Mime-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Disposition: inline
User-Agent: Mutt/1.2.5i
Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Package: cdrtoaster
Version: 1.04p2-2
cdrtoaster explicitly tests whether it has write permission to the device,
and it does not allow you to continue if not. However, it doesn't do the
writing itself; it calls cdrecord to do it. We have installed cdrecord with
the setuid bit set; the manual page claims that it's intended to be safe.
Consequently, it is able to write to the device even though cdrtoaster isn't.
The workaround is to comment out lines 577 through 580 of the script.
Thanks,
-- Fred Gray
