Running torus-trooper on my Thinkpad T61 causes the X server to crash
and constantly restart.

Any tips on how to debug this?

Well, the underlying bug in xserver-xorg-video-intel/mesa has been fixed
and torus-trooper now works for me, so I'm closing this bug.
