Package: wamerican-large

something's really messed up with installing wamerican-large. let me
first copy-in a report i just filed against dictionaries-common. i
think the actual problem may be this package, but anyhow...

Subject: dependency error prevents installation
User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.11+cvs20060403
Package: dictionaries-common
Version: 0.25.12
I wanted enhanced security and so commented out the standard line in
/etc/pam.d/common-password:
password required pam_unix.so nullok obscure min=4 max=8 md5
and uncommented the last two lines:
password required pam_cracklib.so retry=3 minlen=7 difok=3
password required pam_unix.so use_authtok nullok md5
this requires installation of libpam-cracklib, which recommends
(actually it may require but I'm not sure) a wordlist like wamerican.
so i ran:
# apt-get install libpam-cracklib wamerican-large
but the installation fails due to dependency issues. it looks as though
dictionaries-common might be causing this based on the error message:
"dpkg: error processing dictionaries-common (--configure)
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
...
...
wcatalan depends on dictionaries-common...
Package dictionaries-common is not configured yet
by the way, not sure why it always wants to use wcatalan, even when an
alternate wordlist like wamerican-large is specifically chosen. it also
seems like a bizarre default wordlist to use, given the language of the
OS.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
when i was trying to run dpkg -P wamerican-large it complained about
line 6 in the postrm script. it screwed up apt so much that i could not
even install other packages like ssh. i did finally fix it by just
commenting out line 6 in postrm script.

Probably closed earlier, but at least closed as of 6-2.
