Package: bugzilla
Severity: normal

I had bugzilla 2.14 from woody installed on one system and was trying
to do an upgrade to 2.18. So I tried to reproduce my production
environment which is buzzilla from woody plus some packages from
testing. After that I tried to install your 2.18 packages and was
pretty disapointed : it only asked me if I wanted an automatic or
manual install, while I wanted an upgrade of my existing setup.

I chose manual and pointed it to my 2.14 database. It broke
(checksetup failed) and to suceed I add to touch a file in the
templace dir, comment one function (the one with the 3 finds (I'm not
sitting in front of the system). The posting succeeded after that. My
bugzilla 2.18 was running. I was working, but when I ran a sanity
check inside bugzilla it pointed out lots of problem. So I've got
bugzilla 2.18 working on debian with your packages, but I fear
something will break later and I hesitate to put debian bugzilla 2.18
into production.

Did I do something wrong by choosing manual install, or is the upgrade
from the woody version not working ?

I undestand how hard maintaining a package like bugzilla can be, so
please keep up your good work.

The upgrade facility is now provided for a while (2.18-5).
The conffiles are now handle with care and you should be able to upgrade
your woody package.

Feel free to reopen the bug if not.

Regards.
