Hi,
I'm using prelink on this system to reduce binaries loading time.
Unfortunately this breaks debsums because prelink slightly modifies
libraries and binaries.
For example for the /bin/ls binray, here is what I have in
/var/lib/dpkg/info/coreutils.md5sums :
6dcbf1acea6b102bc40de4cda0f40649 bin/ls
and here is the modified binary:
$ md5sum /bin/ls
0d879e71d077eaf85c5f81c39283d3ba /bin/ls
Fortunately prelink is able to compute the MD5 digest of the original
file:
$ /usr/sbin/prelink -y --md5 /bin/ls
6dcbf1acea6b102bc40de4cda0f40649 /bin/ls
Could this be added to debsums ?
I propose the following scheme:
if the /usr/sbin/prelink binary is installed
if /etc/default/prelink contains PRELINKING=yes
then
run all dynamic libraries and binaries through
prelink -y --md5 before checking
else
run only binaries that do not match their MD5 digest through
prelink
