Package: pdns-server
Severity: wishlist
Tags: upstream

I run pdns on an apache machine, on which I also do log file
analysis, which does reverse lookups. As a result, the analyser
fires thousands of requests unto pdns, which seems to want to ask my
pgsql backend for every single one, and only then goes out to
ask the recursor to resolve the requests. This drives the system
load through the roof as postgresql is answering queries it cannot
answer over and over again.

Would it be possible for pdns to keep a cache list of domains it
knows, so that it does not have to go and ask the backend all the
time? The cache could be short-lived (10 seconds or so), even that
would bring a lot of gain.

Thanks,
