Package: kernel-package
Verion: 10.067
Severity: wishlist

It would be nice for make-kpkg (or the mysterious successor mentioned in
#475036, but never named) to alert when the VERSION line in the toplevel
Makefile is modified, or there are localversion-* files present (there
should also be the option to turn this off). Too many times when dealing
with the patch from one particular set of [EMAIL PROTECTED], I forget to remove
those
and end up having to rebuild.

Having it warn about these would be helpful.

Hi,

This sounds like a task for a local wrapper or an alias around
make-kpkg. There are too many variations of changing the kernel
version to make this easy to do generically, and since there is
unlikely to be a consensus on the behaviour, making it configurable
 would also be a chore.

So I suggest you just create a local wrapper (I might include it
as an example, if you think there are others who would like such
 functionality).
