I installed a fresh amd64 etch on new hardware:
The hardware
------------
supermicro 625
dual quad xeon
8GB ram
8 x 750GB harddisk on 3ware 9650 raid6 controller
A kernel compile is ok (4 minute 35 seconds with
CONCURRENY_LEVEL=8 !)
I installed 2.6.20.10 at the moment.
However when i do:
host1:~# for i in 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0
do
procinfo > /tmp/la
done
Segmentation fault
Segmentation fault
Segmentation fault
Segmentation fault
Segmentation fault
That's userspace dieing for some reason.
I then compiled 2.6.21-git4 : same problem
But the kernel compile itself is ok!
I ran memtest for 30 minutes without problems.
I got a strace of both a working and a non working "procinfo"
kernel config and kern.log output available at:
http://www.dth.net/kernel/xeon_segfault/
