There is a bug in x-org where dpms resets the screen saver idle time
when the monitor goes into standby, suspend or power off. The bug has
a page at http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6439 and was
opened 2006-03-31 08:24. Since it hasn't been fixed in 2 years it
stands to reason that many projects have implemented workarounds.
I adapted a workaround from kpowersave to xprintidle and the author of
xprintidle has released a new version (xprintidle-0,2) including my
changes at http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/~henoch/text/xprintidle.html.
