While running make menuconfig as a normal user in GNU/Linux lenny I
encountered the following error messages:

I am using Debian GNU/Linux lenny, linux-image-2.6.26-1-686 version
2.6.26-8. I run the "make menuconfig" command as a normal user while the
linux source directory and sub-directories under it belongs to root.
I do not encountered the above error messages if I run "make menuconfig"
as root.
Please let me know if you need more info.

Hi,
If you are trying to run make menuconfig (which has nothing to
do with kernel-package), you must read ./Documentation/Changes
et. al. to determine what packages you need. Since those change from
kernel version to kernel version, we can not keep track of them.
