Package: base
Severity: important

after a uptime of several hours the system time suddenly starts to hop
around, that means in the one moment it is correct, in the next moment
some time in future, in the next moment it is correct again.
then the monitor switches off and on again, System becomes
unusable, every command needs a very long time to run (even things like
'ls' or switching from X to console).

If this is the case and I try to shutdown, system freezes completly and
the system bell beeps without stopping.

the only possibility is to immediatle switch off the system.
after reboot everything works fine for some hours.

this error occurs with and without running X

The 2.6.8 kernel is no longer supported by Debian so I'm closing
your bug report. Please try the 2.6.26 kernel from Debian lenny.
If this issue is still present, let me know.

Thanks.
