Package: kernel-source-2.6.8,kernel-source-2.6.9
Version: N/A
Severity: grave
The kernel source calls gcc as a "hosted environment" compiler, i.e.
without -ffreestanding. This allows them to assume the availability of
- the libc,
- libgcc and
- any other runtime code supplied by libc or gcc.
gcc hapilly makes use of this and uses symbols from shared libgcc in
kernel modules.

The 2.6.8 kernel is no longer supported by Debian so I'm closing
your bug report. Please try the 2.6.26 kernel from Debian lenny.
If this issue is still present, let me know.
Thanks.
