Package: lazarus
Version: 0.9.26-2
Severity: wishlist
Thanks
Copied from Ubuntus Launchpad [1]:
The symptom is that Lazarus, when it starts up, displays a message box
saying
"The Free Pascal source directory was not found. Some code functions
will not work. It is recommended that you install it and set the path
Environment -> Environment Options -> Files [Ignore]"
I can confirm that the relevant directory (/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.2.2) is
installed (in Xubuntu, and probably also was in Kubuntu) and it is just
the Environment Option setting that is missing. The text of the message
box misled me.
After setting this path correctly the message does not return. The
preferred behavior of the package should be that this path is set
automatically. Otherwise, the warning message should be changed.

I tested this yesterday in Ubuntus 0.9.26-2 (which is just a sync of
Debian) and I got the same message. But thinking about it, it is
probably the result of a file in ~/.lazarus/ right? So it is fixed for
fresh installs, but not for updates. So I tested by removing that
directory and indeed the error message did not appear. Looks like it is
solved as you say. I therefore take the liberty to close this bug.

If you prefer that, I will try to do that (although I am running Ubuntu
myself).
Just for the record, as one of my debian packages depends on lazarus, I
am trying to help you (lazarus and fpc maintainers) to get the packaging
in the best possible shape. If I can find issues I can patch I will be
glad to let you know.
