save-place does not work; there are two problems:
1) in the menu Options there is a voice "Save Place in files...";
I have selected it and done 'save options'; and indeed the file .emacs
contains
(save-place t)
(I attach it); but, when I start
emacs, the menu voice is unchecked; and, when I try to
enable it, it says 'save places disabled' (so it seems
that actually the option is ON, but the menu is displayed wrong
at startup)
2) the places are not saved: my old .emacs-places was not altered;
I have deleted it, and emacs has recreated it, but it contains just nil
unfortunately there are no visible errors (I have also tried 'emacs --debug')
