Hi,

When using 's' to see the list of buffers, you can remove buffers using
'D'. You can then proceed to delete all buffers, which leaves a buffer
labeled <*Null*>. Selecting that buffer kind of hangs w3m, although you
can then proceed to a new URL (using 'U').

It would probably be saner to not allow the last buffer to be deleted.
