This probably needs to go upstream...
Clearsigning appears to strip the trailing newline before the
"-----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-----" marker, and it adds extraneous ^M
characters at the end of every line. Also, there appears to be no way
to disable the Comment: field (and in fact, it is only possible to
force it to be blank from the command line, since putting a blank
comment line in the options file will cause other parameters from the
options file to be used as a comment). Quick output samples follow:

Since Christian concluded more than five (!) years ago that this may be
closed, his point sounds reasonable, and no-one could think of an
