i use kde and an acer crystal eye webcam (it uses uvcvideo module to work); 
it is the integrated webcam in my notebook, an acer aspire 5520g. 
if i start cheese i can't see any image from camera, but light, that indicates 
that the webcam works, turns on; 
saving images or videos works.
kopete works with this camera.
