I try to setup i8kutils in order to manage fan and cpu temperature on a DELL
Inspirion xps m1710 but i8k module fail to load into the kernel with this
output :
FATAL: Error inserting i8k
(/lib/modules/2.6.29-1-amd64/kernel/drivers/char/i8k.ko): No such device

This has nothing to do with the i8kutils package, this is a kernel module
issue, but isn't really a bug. Hence closing.
The chances are either your laptop isn't supported at all, or the module
just doesn't know about you laptop model. You can try doing 'modprobe i8k
force=1' and if that works and all is well then put 'i8k force=1'
in /etc/modules and consider taking this upstream to the kernel, so that
your laptop model can be added in module. If that doesn't work then your
laptop simply isn't supported.
