I have found that the Ecartis mailing list software changes the message
header
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
to
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
Quoted-printable characters in message body are *not* being converted to
8bit and this makes those messages quite unreadable. This behaviour
occurs even when the following configuration option is set to
humanize-quotedprintable = true
(This option should force the ecartis explicitly convert messages to
8bit)
So this must be a bug.

the bugs that were still opened against it.
