Package: jabber-msn
Version: 1.2.1-1.3cvs4-1
The jabber-msn package is not compatible with ejabberd, Jabberd2 and all other
servers that differs from Jabberd14. It can be easily made compatible with
*all* Jabber servers out there.
Why it do not work with other servers?
As default the transport sends logs and xdb requests to the main server. The
problem is that this isn't standardised; it is Jabber14-only.
(See also at the end of: http://ejabberd.jabberstudio.org/guide.html#htoc17 )
How it can be fixed:
1) Make the transport handle logs and xdb requests by itself by changing the
config file:
* see URL above
* and/or use the working configuration file from
http://jabberstudio.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/ejabberd/examples/transport-configs/msn-t/
and change paths (remark: as you can see I splitted the config file; you
probable want to have only one config file so you can combine these files
into one file)
2) Create a separate package which includes the Jabberd14 binary, the log
libraries, and the xdb-file library (more not needed): this package then can
be used by other transports that need these files and by the Jabberd14
package. Advantage will be that you don't need to install all Jabberd14 files
if you are running another server. It's also more stable than using JCR.
ps: I you need more information/help you also can contact me via Jabber.
