When faced with
Press <RETURN> to continue...
one doesn't know what to do if one does not want to continue.

True, the man page says

       An  interrupt  (typically  ^C)  has  the  effect  of aborting the 
current command and
       returning the editor to command mode.

but one is afraid still.  Why not accept q etc. to get out of this
paging mode.
