Package: feh
Version: 1.2.6-5
Severity: normal

I have a read-only home directory (for an embedded system), and when
running "feh --bg-scale background.png" for instance, it segfaults.
Running strace shows the following :

open("/home/mip/.fehbg", O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666) = -1 EROFS
(Read-only file system)
--- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) @ 0 (0) ---
+++ killed by SIGSEGV +++

I *suppose* that the code lacks some error checking here. If you want me
to try & supply a patch, feel free to tell me - I'm not familiar with
feh code, but it shouldn't be very difficult to implement.
